The expedition was conducted from Chhatarghat of Mekhal Union on Halda river to Madunaghat area of Burishchar union. During the operation, nets of about 2500 meters were seized from both Haldar Hathazari and Raozan shores.
IDF Fisheries Officer Rabbani, village police and volunteers assisted in the operation led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahidul Alam from dawn on Monday (January 31).
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahidul Alam said, based on specific information, raids have been carried out in several places of Halda river this morning. During the operation about 2500 meters of nets were seized. Haldar mother fish, dolphins and biodiversity are protected by the upazila administration at different points almost every day.
He said regular campaigns would be conducted to protect Haldar mother fish, dolphins and biodiversity. Awareness is important to maintain the natural balance of Haldar. Our campaign will continue. On behalf of Hathazari, the upazila administration has thanked all those who have cooperated in today’s campaign.
