Housewife Laila Begum was killed after she testified in the Ershad murder case in the 2nd mile head area of ​​Chittagong city. RAB-7 has arrested Iran (33), the main accused in the high profile murder case.

He was arrested on Monday night, January 10, from Ichakhali, Economic Zone, Bhabir Mor area under Jorarganj police station in Chittagong district. At a press briefing held at RAB-7’s headquarters in Patenga at 4 pm on Tuesday, January 11, RAB-7’s commander Lieutenant Colonel SM Yusuf gave details.

RAB-7 Commander Lt. Col. SM Yusuf said that on April 11, 2009, due to a family dispute, Md. Arman (35), Iran (33) and Imtiaz (32), Victim Ershad (22) were on their way back from work. As soon as he arrived, he grabbed Ershad and hit him on the head with a sharp knife, seriously injuring him. Ershad was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on April 12. A murder case was filed at the Chittagong Metropolitan Port Police Station in this incident. In this context, the accused Iran and others were released on bail after serving various terms in jail. After being released on bail, all the accused were threatening the witnesses not to testify in the Ershad murder case.

He said, that in the case of Ershad’s murder, Kabir Ahmed (65) and his son Omar Farooq (31) testified in a wise court and the defendants were threatening to kill them. Following this, the accused came to the courtyard of the plaintiff’s house on January 1 morning in a pre-planned manner and hit Laila Begum and the plaintiff’s son with an iron shovel and bamboo stick and seriously injured them. Later, Laila was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in a critical condition and died on January 8. The accused had been on the run in Iran since the incident.

SM Yusuf said, that a smart team of RAB-7 using technology and conducting relentless operation through relentless efforts arrested the accused Iran on the night of January 11 in Ichakhali, Economic Zone, Bhabir Mor area under Jorarganj Police Station of Chittagong District.

He further said, that the accused who was later arrested confessed to the murder. There are 4 cases including 2 murders in different police stations of Chittagong metropolis against the arrested accused. The arrested accused is in the process of being handed over to the concerned police station.
