Case filed against ex-DUCSU VP Nur under DSA dismissed

Judge AM Zulfiker Hayat of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal passed the order on Thursday.
Cyber Tribunal public prosecutor Mohammad Nazrul Islam Shamim confirmed the matter.
He said Thursday was the day for taking the chargesheet into cognizance. However, the tribunal did not take the chargesheet of the case into cognizance as it lacked necessary merits to take it into cognizance.
Earlier on April 19, 2021, singer Ilyas Hossain filed the case with Paltan Police Station under the DSA against Nur for his comments during a Facebook live session on April 14 the same year.
According to the case statement, the accused Nurul Huq Nur appeared on Facebook live on April 14, 2021 and made ‘offensive, false, defamatory and provocative statements’ against Awami League leaders and activists. It said his words also hurt religious sentiment and values.
