From 1971 to 30 November 2017. The middle period is 56 years long. The fate of the Ruppur nuclear power plant was stuck in the middle of a long eclipse.

After the victory of the great war of liberation in 1971, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman took the initiative once in ’73. But that dream was lost after Bangabandhu was killed in his own family in ’75. After the formation of the government in 2009, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reawakened that dream.

An agreement was signed with the Russian Federation in 2011 for the construction of the Ruppur nuclear power plant. Later in 2013 the loan agreement was signed. On November 30, 2016, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the cementing work of the nuclear reactor. .
