On Monday (September 20), two workers were killed and two others injured when an iron angle of a reactor building collapsed at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Block 2, Ishwardi.The deceased were identified as Moniruzzaman Monir, 32, and Madhav Chandra Sarkar, 33, of Test Rochem, a Russian contractor. Dinbandhu, 33, and Sifat, 28, were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with serious injuries. .Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman Asad and the hospital’s emergency department confirmed the deaths and injuries. According to eyewitness accounts, the workers were working inside the reactor building in Block 2 at around 12:30 pm. .At that time, while lowering the water jar with the crane under the reactor building, the angle of the jar was broken by the push of the jar and fell on the heads of the workers working below. One person died on the spot and another died on the way to the hospital. .The other two injured have been sent to Rajshahi in critical condition. The deceased were identified as Monir of Ishwardi in Rooppur and Madhab of Shahjadpur.
